Psalm 34:8, “Oh, taste and see that YHWH is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!” See how the Spirit—through David—urges the people of God to press in further not merely know of YHWH but to feast, as it were, on Him, to taste and see for one’s self that He

“Sing praises to YHWH, O you His saints, and give thanks to His holy name! For His anger is but for a moment, and His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.” – Psalm 30:4-5 Much to see here! First, notice that this entire

Psalm 39:4-5, “O YHWH, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting I am! Behold, you have made my days a few handbreadths…” I can’t think of a time when it is not wise to consider the brevity of life. When we are surrounded

Psalm 42:11, “Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him, my salvation and my God.” One of the implications of Christ’s death and resurrection is invincible hope for anyone who would receive Him as their life. The one trusting in Christ simply cannot be hopeless…they cannot enter a place of utter destitution of

Psalm 13:1,5, “How long, O LORD? Will you forget me forever?…But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.”   The “but” in verse 5 is an adversative that begins David’s ascent out of the shadows and into the light of hope. Up until this point he has

Psalm 8:3-4, “When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?” God has made the universe essentially infinite in order to mercifully

Psalm 118:27, “YHWH is God, and He has made his light shine upon us. Bind the festal sacrifice with cords, up to the horns of the altar!” I was reading through Psalm 118 this morning and at about verse 10, I began to think how powerful these words must have been for Jesus as

Psalm 103:11-12, “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His steadfast love toward those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our transgressions from us.” I recently found out that caterpillers and butterflies have to eat different food…

Psalm 139:8, “If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!” I find myself going to Psalm 139 often during times of uncertainty or fear or anxiety or suffering….from beginning to end, this Psalm testifies to the intimate, intentional, fatherly presence of the LORD–in all circumstances. He knows our ways (1-4), He surrounds
