When Ezra ascends the wooden (xulon) platform in the sight of all Israel and proclaims the Law of YHWH, he is foreshadowing the day when God the Son will ascend the cross (xulon, “tree”) in the sight of all Israel and become the enfleshed and climactic declaration of YHWH’s Law (which is love).
